Chaverim of Rockland received a frantic call on Sunday night, July 23 from a woman who had inadvertently thrown out her diamond rings and wedding band. She had gone to wash for hamotzie and left her rings on her tray with her food. She realized later that she must have thrown out the rings with the leftovers on the tray, and in a panic, she called Chaverim.
Chaverim members arrived at Kosher Castle in Monsey at around 10:30 p.m. The volunteers emptied all of the trash bins from the restaurant onto a green tarp and combed through the contents with metal detectors. It only took a few minutes to locate the rings worth an estimated $25,000 and endless gratitude from the ecstatic owner.
